This is gonna be a very controversial post, but hear me out. When you use X-bow, you place an extremely threatning building. That thing can take down a tower and still have a quarter left of health. But mortar, doesn't really feel like that. It can't even take down a tower without assistance. You need 2 mortars to take down a tower. It's not very potent. Also, it's very hard to get a lock on with it. With X-bow, it will tear down through skeletons, ice spirit, any firebally, or really anything that isn't a tank or a mini tank. But mortar, it gets distracted by even an ice spirit. For quite a while too. So you can put down anything that's a swarm or mini tank and it will survive for a long time while being targeted with the mortar. Also, it attacks really slow. Like once every 5 seconds, so it's DPS is really low. While X-bow attacks once every .25 seconds. If you try to play mortar alone without rocket, hog, or miner, you will have a very low chance to win. But X-bow doesn't need anything else. That's why 2.9 exists. My opinion is that Mortar is just higher skill than X-bow. Hopefully y'all don't kill me for this, but this subreddit, especially the X-bow players, have a tendency to do that. submitted by /u/Asdfhuk [link] [comments]View the full article
Most people's reasoning that golem counters x bow is due to the fact that the golem can absorb an x bow, which is true, however, any good x bow player can easily counter a golem player. Too many average x bow players constantly place their x bow at the bridge where the golem is constantly going to absorb it and the x bow never connects, this is where this agenda comes from. Most good x bow players recognise that all you have to do is out-cycle the opponents golem and its basically gg. You always want to set up a defensive x bow, absorb the golem push and then you counter push with an offensive x bow at the bridge and more often than not, the opponent can't cycle to their golem quick enough, and if they can, they won't be able to due much to support the golem. Golem archetypes typically are extremely underpowered defensively, as most cards are aimed to support a golem push, so without a golem, the x bow can practically never be defended.
